The Building Project

For years, we've served our neighbors from wherever we could — garages, storage units, borrowed spaces. This year, that changes. We purchased land in Dewey, Arizona to build a dedicated home base: a place to receive donations, organize them with care, and get them into the hands of families quickly.

We're working toward moving in by August 1st, and to get there the property needs its basic infrastructure completed: a septic system, electric service, a well, and the store-house building itself.

We want to be transparent with you: our original septic contractor was unable to complete the work, which set us back both time and money. We've now engaged a new contractor and the path forward is clear — we simply need the community's help to cross the finish line. We remain hopeful, grateful, and fully committed to opening our doors on schedule.

A Family's Story

Lekendra, Alej, and baby Aniken — a family served by This Little House of Mine

My name is Lekendra Massey. I'm 26 years old, I have one adorable son, his name is Aniken Altaha, he is 10 months old. He is our gift from heaven. My significant other name is Alej Altaha. He is 26 years old as well, we are from the White Mountain Apache Tribe. We both seeked help in the year 2022. Alej has been with me in the journey of sobriety. We've had our bad days and of course good days but by the grace of God we are still here, doing it sober! We took our classes seriously because we knew "it only works, if you work it". It definitely took a lot of work like self-discipline, forgiveness, & patience etc.

We are both 2 years sober, we still have days where we struggle but by keeping God in the center we learned to trust in the Lord through the trials & tribulations. (Isaiah 33:2) In our journey, we found out how hard it was to come back to the reservation, it was back to being homeless. I thought we were gonna be bundled up in a shack with my family, I was about to doubt everything but we prayed and within time we found help, a program that helps families with addiction & being homeless.

We had faith & trust in our Lord. God provided for us, during the time my good friend Tammi reached out to me and she was able to help out with the program The Little House of Mine. It was a blessing to come across The Little House of Mine, with them we are able to seek help, support & the care as a family. We like to give thanks to the Little House of Mine and most of all Jesus! He is a way maker.
